2018 Class & Event Schedule


February 19 thru 28 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Final Days Kite Contest Sign- up | During the weekend of March 10th youths will be instructed on how to build and fly kites at multiple Indy Parks locations. They will be judged and the winners will advance to the semi-finals on March 17th. Championship round will be held March 31st. These events are for children ages 7-10 and 11-15.
March 6 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Turkey Seminar | A 2 hour class in which youth ages 7 to 18 will learn the basic fundamentals of properly hunting turkeys. Limit of 50 youth
March 10 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Kite Contest Qualifying Round | During the weekend of March 10th youths will be instructed on how to build and fly kites at multiple Indy Parks locations. March 24 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Goose Pond Field Trip | At various venues our youths will learn about bird watching, wild fauna and flora, water quality, and conservation issues. Limit of 50 youth
March 31 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Fall Creek Clean Up & Kite Finale | After cleaning up along the east side of Fall Creek Parkway from Burdsal Parkway to 38th Street. Kite Contest Finalist will build and fly their kites and champions selected.
April 2 & 9 6:00 p.m. to 7:00/8:00 p.m. Fishing Class- Pt 1: 1hr & Pt 2: 2hr | This is a 2-part (3 hours total) in which youth age 7 to 14 will learn basic fishing techniques, knot tying and fish identifying. Part 1 of this class is 1 hour and part 2 is a 2 hour class.
April 17, 24, May 1, 8, 15 & 22 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Archery – Six 1 Hour Classes | Six one hour classes teach youths the fundamentals of archery including safety and targeting. Limit of 15 youth ages 10 to 17.
April 19, 26, May 3, 10, 17 & 24 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Archery – Six 1 Hour Classes | Six one hour classes teach youths the fundamentals of archery including safety and targeting. Limit of 15 youth ages 10 to 17.
May 7 & 14 6:00 p.m. to 7:00/8:00 p.m. Fishing Class- Pt 1: 1hr & Pt 2: 2hr | This is a 2-part (3 hours total) in which youth age 7 to 14 will learn basic fishing techniques, knot tying and fish identifying. Part 1 of this class is 1 hour and part 2 is a 2 hour class.
May 12 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Mother’s Day Fishing Outing | Youths have the opportunity to practice the skills they were taught during the Youth Fishing Classes. Limit of 30 to 50 youths depending on event.
June 4 & 11 6:00 p.m. to 7:00/8:00 p.m. Fishing Class- Pt 1: 1hr & Pt 2: 2hr | This is a 2-part (3 hours total) in which youth age 7 to 14 will learn basic fishing techniques, knot tying and fish identifying. Part 1 of this class is 1 hour and part 2 is a 2 hour class.

June 16 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Father’s Day Fishing Outing | Youths have the opportunity to practice the skills they were taught during the Youth Fishing Classes. Limit of 30 to 50 youths depending on event.
June 30 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Covanta Fishing Outing | Youths have the opportunity to practice the skills they were taught during the Youth Fishing Classes. Limit of 30 to 50 youths depending on event.

July 28 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Lilly Fishing Outing | Youths have the opportunity to practice the skills they were taught during the Youth Fishing Classes. Limit of 30 to 50 youths depending on event.

August 13 -17 t.b.d. 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Indiana State Fair Field Trip | The OYEA visits the Indiana State Fair Limit of 30 youth
August 18 & 25 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Hunters Education Course | This class is a Prerequisite for Indiana Residents 7 to 18 years of age seeking an Indiana Resident Hunting License. This Class covers the State of Indiana Hunting Rules and Regulations and gun safety. (As Per the Indiana Department of Natural Resources) Limit of 50 youths.
