RTV6 — Hunting club helps keep kids on target, off streets

INDIANAPOLIS – The 46205 ZIP code in Indianapolis is no stranger to crime. Last year, part of the Mapleton Fall Creek area was named the 17th most-dangerous neighborhood in America.

INDIANAPOLIS – The 46205 ZIP code in Indianapolis is no stranger to crime. Last year, part of the Mapleton Fall Creek area was named the 17th most-dangerous neighborhood in America.

Joe King is working to take it back, and he’s focusing on the youngest members of the community.

King is the founder of the Dirty Dozen Hunting and Fishing Club.

“The kids have passed by our facility and I have stopped them out there. I ask them if they know that this is their building and they are shocked. They don’t know what’s in this building. They don’t know what goes on in this building,” King said.

The facility is a place open to kids where they can learn how to aim for what they want in life through archery and angling.

“As I grew up I knew what outdoor life hunting and fishing life did for me. Fall Creek took care of me and I felt I was obligated to give back to Fall Creek,” King said.
